Operations Manager
Job Description:
The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating all sale day activities, managing facility operations, and leading the team to ensure the auction runs smoothly and efficiently. This role requires a solid background in cattle handling, a strong work ethic, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Auction Coordination: Oversee cattle intake, sorting, penning, and sale ring operations to ensure a streamlined and efficient sale process.

Team Leadership: Manage barn crew and support staff, ensuring clear communication and teamwork throughout auction prep and execution.

Logistics & Scheduling: Coordinate delivery times with consignors, oversee cattle flow through the facility, and work with buyers to ensure a smooth transaction process.

Facility Oversight: Maintain all pens, alleys, equipment, and sale ring to ensure safety, cleanliness, and functionality.

Customer Service: Build strong relationships with local ranchers, order buyers, and transporters, ensuring top-notch service and customer satisfaction.

Regulatory Compliance: Uphold livestock health and handling standards in accordance with USDA and industry guidelines.

Reporting & Insights: Contribute to sale summaries, livestock counts, and market insights to help guide operational decisions.
Requirements:

Prior experience working in a livestock auction market, feedlot, or related cattle operation.

Proven leadership skills and experience managing a team in an agricultural setting.

Strong understanding of cattle behavior, livestock logistics, and auction procedures.

Familiarity with regulatory compliance and safety practices related to livestock handling.

Ability to work extended hours on sale days and adapt to a dynamic, seasonal work environment.

Cattle Representative

We are seeking a Cattle Representative (Territory Representative) to join our dynamic team and expand our market reach by building and maintaining strong relationships with cattle producers, buyers, sellers as well as engaging with local communities to promote agricultural sustainability and support.
Job Description:
The Cattle Representative will be responsible for managing a territory (region TBD) and working closely with livestock producers and buyers to secure consignments for the weekly auction and grow the customer base. This role involves business development, relationship management, community engagement, and travel within the assigned region to meet with clients regularly.
Key Responsibilities:

Territory Development: Develop relationships with cattle buyers and sellers within the assigned region.

Business Growth: Identify new business opportunities and work to secure consignments from new cattle producers.

Sales & Customer Service: Maintain ongoing communication with existing customers to secure consignments for weekly auctions at Cherokee Sales Co.

Collaboration: Participate in weekly team meetings, providing insights on territory performance, and share best practices.

Travel: Extensive travel within the assigned region and regular presence at Cherokee Sales Company on Wednesdays.

Community Involvement: Actively engage with local agricultural organizations, producers’ associations, and community events to promote Cherokee Sales Company and foster relationships that support the cattle industry. Represent the company at local fairs, agricultural expos, and other community gatherings to support and engage with the regional livestock community.
Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the cattle industry.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and sales skills.

Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet business goals.

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Sale Day Office Help
Job Description:

Sale Day Yard Help
Job Description:
We are seeking reliable and hardworking individuals to assist with operations on sale days at our livestock market. This position is ideal for someone looking for occasional work in a fast-paced environment. There are no benefits associated with this role, as it is strictly for sale day assistance. Part-time. Sale Day Only.
Key Responsibilities:

Assist with sorting cattle in the back pens

Help unload cattle from trailers upon arrival

Load cattle onto trailers for transport after the sale

Move cattle through alleys and holding areas as needed

Ensure cattle are handled safely and efficiently

Clean and maintain pens, alleys, and loading areas

Follow all safety protocols and guidelines
Qualifications:
